I illustrated stories from Luna Park, Coney Island throughout history from its opening in 1903 through the evolution of the park from the vintage wooden pinwheels to the Heart of Coney Island sign accompanied by rides that still exist today such as the Rainbowheel and the Cyclone. I established a playful yet, elevated visual language that spoke to the park's evolution while paying homage to the iconic motifs of its history. The hand-inked illustration was colored whimsically with a fantastical viewpoint creating a series of different worlds being brought together, much like in reality at the theme park. I wanted to imbue an element of fanciful characters and motifs that showcase the playful nostalgia that the theme park provides in this creation.
